New Construction Contract Awarded to Fisher Sand & Gravel Company

Fisher Sand & Gravel Company, of Dickinson, North Dakota, has been awarded a $393 million dollar contract as prime contractor for completion of the I-580 Freeway Extension Project.

  • Contract awarded November 6, 2006 by the State Board of Transportation
  • Notice to Proceed has been scheduled for December 2006.
  • Construction to begin early 2007
  • Open to traffic mid 2011

Successful communication between the Project Team and project stakeholders has been critical to designing the I-580 Freeway Extension.


During the life of the project, the Project Team developed fact sheets, press releases, and held public meetings to help inform and engage the public in the design process. Now that the design phase is complete, we will continue to provide construction status reports through this website and the local media.
